Geared up for his first Eyesome release is Budapest-based Malz, a longtime servant of the bass scene & resident at Dub Phase Sound System events. He delivers 4 original compositions alongside a spicy remix by the French touring producer/DJ Carie aka La Dame. The ‘5 Bananas’ EP is a great showcase of Malz’ approach to halftime drum ‘n bass: eerie, melancholical atmospheres layed on top of precise drumwork and spaced-out sound design.
Defi City will take you on a late night drive around town, uplifted with a punchy snare and stabs that hit from the start. The sci-fi influenced Crabs is a dark percussive roller teleporting you straight to Area 51’s most elusive places. Hokus keeps pushing that alienic sound with more sci-fi synthetisers alongside chilled out parts. Finally, Pas Mon Problème is easy going and the perfect track for kickstarting your Sunday morning with infectious patterns and a soulful rhythm. The EP is strengthened by a remix from La Dame, an energetic take on the original, with a groove-filled bassline and clever percussion work, making it impossible to sit still when the bass drops.
