Ziplokk returns to Eyesome with ‘Heads Up’, a deep 5-track EP that delves into 140 alongside 11th Hour. The German producer’s first Eyesome outing was back in early 2020 on the label’s début limited edition tape run that featured two 30-minute mixes of entirely self-produced music from himself and global heavy-hitter, Abstrakt Sonance. Now to spark up 2022, Ziplokk is back with gorgeous dubstep bass-lines and outer-worldly atmospherics that have been augmented using alien hardware by wave- making Belgian producer, 11th Hour. Pulsing through the EP’s tubes and wires are tripped-out 808’s, stone cold drums and icy, melodic pads that were incubated deep inside the synth-driven film scores of the early 1980’s. Filling the mise- en-scène throughout each track’s slick, powerful rhythms are crackling radio signals, rising Arctic winds and extraterrestrial sirens. Each mystery sinks deeper and deeper, whether they’re played in long, key-matched blends or released on solo expeditions that fill every section of the soundsystem.
Ziplokk - Heads Up EP - EYED009

Ziplokk’s title track sets the EP’s frozen tones with rough, chopped vocals that push the stuttering bassline through patient claps, noisy snares and side-chained kicks. Entering earth’s atmosphere on a disoriented flight path, ‘Crooked’ trickles chilling arpeggios all over mountainous 808’s and concussedpercussion. ‘Frostbite’ bears witness to an Aurora Borealis of percussive melodies, shackled hi-hats and haunting female vocals, the last of which 11th Hour summons to the forefront in his strict-rhythm, sub-driven remix. But before that, ‘Kandis’ interlocks a mosaic of warped vocals with creeping Foley cracked open by a glacial hollow snare.

As well as Eyesome, Ziplokk and 11th Hour have released on labels like Subotage Records, Basskruit and Wheel & Deal, plus have received support from artists like J:Kenzo, Hebbe and Khiva. Tending toa flourishing garden of unheard, unstoppable productions going all the way back to his hip hop days (self-written bars included), Ziplokk has been quietly breaking musical boundaries in his rural abode in Germany. ‘Frostbite’ remixer, 11th Hour, has been on the Eyesome radar since his 2014 release on the Belgian label, Dubtastic Records, and it is inspiring to see his movements today. Eyesome are proud to start another year with Ziplokk at the helm and of course to welcome 11th Hour to the collective with their forthcoming ‘Heads Up’ EP.
